Hello welcome to my blog I am the Piano Monster here to bring you stories & tell u about what new and interesting things that i have found on the interweb. The latest story that I am going to bring to you is called Defeat. It was created by me and my best friend whom I will eventually get on here as well because they have the other end of this story. So yeah, this story has two main characters but we separated the two sides. My character is named Sam or Samantha but we mostly call her Sam though out the story.  So I hope you like it i will try to keep the blog up at least every week or two. I thought that uglies was really interesting. I think that this book would be good for anyone who likes to read about government conspiracies. Because of every one is being turned almost the same as every body else.I did not like the specials they really annoyed me because as soon as Tally gets comfortable in smoke they ruin it that. I liked the characters and how they were described. I also like the fact that you are (well i was) at first alittle undecided about New Pretty Town if it was bad or good. I’ll let you read and decide if it is or not. I know I'm reading the next book in the series.

Scott Westerfeld

Scott Westerfeld was born on May 5th,1963 in Texas.

He moved around a lot when he was a kid. He Graduated from Arts Magnet High School in Dallas Texas. He went on and got his Bachelor of Arts of Philosophy at Vassar which is in New York. Then went to the a Performance studies at New York University. Westerfeld has other jobs besides as a author he worked as a ghost rider,a text book editor, a substitute teacher, factory worker and a software designer.

Scott Westerfelds other works are Polymorph (1997),Fine Prey(1998),Evolutions Darling(2000),The Killing of Worlds(2003),The Rising Empire(2003),Midnighters: The Secret Hour(2004),So Yesterday(2004),The Last Days(2006), Peeps,and more to the Uglies series along with the MIdnighters series. The Uglies and the Midnighters are his top selling series. Also Uglies was chosen by  Twentieth Century Fox to be a possible movie in 2010.(yay!)

Scott Westerfeld’s writing style for this book is science fiction with a distopian society and in the futuristic world after we or the Rusties as we are called are gone. This was originally started by a bunch of emails about beauty between him and another author. What you do, the way you think, makes you beautiful. -Scott Westerfeld, Uglies, 2005. This quote from Uglies shows that his point that he is trying to get across is that you dont need an operation to be pretty and that beauty is on the inside. That's what he is tryng to get across in this book.

Summary of Uglies by Scott Westerfeld

The book Uglies By Scott Westerfeld, is about what most people would call a Utopia, once you turn sixteen your outer looks problems are over because on your sixteenth birthday you have an operation that makes you pretty. (from how they describe how you look its almost like you look like a anime character.) You aren’t to tall, to wide, and your eyes are big and round and kind of hypnotizing. After the operation everyone gets to party, have fun, look like a model and doesn’t have to worry about a thing. The main character is a fifteen year old girl named Tally Young Blood who is waiting for her sixteenth birthday to turn pretty. Her best friend Peris has already had the operation. For a really long time Tally feels alone cause all of her friends are in New Pretty Town. Until she meets Shay another fifteen year old girl.Who teaches Tally about a small hidden town hidden out in the world far from New Pretty Town. Where no one is pretty were they are all ugly or normal. Shay doesn’t wan the operation so she runs away. Then Tally has to find her and bring her back to New Pretty Town or she can never turn pretty. But when she gets to the hidden town or Smoke as they call it she has to make up her mind if she wants to stay or turn everyone in and betray her friend and newly found friends.
